Before joining the teaching staff at Oswego East High School in 2007, Kelly taught for two years at the high school level in Illinois and two and a half years at the secondary school level in the United Kingdom. At her Illinois posts, she stood as Band Director at Newton Community High School and as Assistant Band Director at Plainfield Central High School. After then attending Indiana University, where she received her Master`s in Wind Conducting, Kelly taught music at the Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Levels (ages 11-16) in Eastbourne, England. Through these posts, she gained experience teaching a variety of music courses including Concert Band, Marching Band, Jazz Band, Orchestra, Choir, Music Theory, Composition, and General Music.
Kelly is happy to be a member of the Oswego East staff. She teaches Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Wind Symphony, Marching Band, Jazz Band, and Pep Band. Additionally, she assists with Concert Choir. She is a member of the National Band Association, Music Educators National Conference, Illinois Music Educators Association, World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles, Womens Band Directors International, Tau Beta Sigma, and Delta Omicron.
Kelly owes great thanks to those teachers who have supported her throughout her education and teaching. One day she hopes to be as great as her mentors: Ray Cramer, Greg Bimm, Marc Whitlock, Dan Farris, Steve Steele, and Steve Pratt.
