Our next two chapters are about the simple forms, Binary, Ternary, & Rounded Binary.
Here's my plan:
Here are the Chapter 15 Workbook assignments:
Here are your Workbook assignments for Chapter 14: V/V & vii/V
I'd like to move on to Chapter 15 on Tuesday, 2/11.
Here is the PDF describing the AP Test in detail. The end of this document also has a practice test for the Multiple-Choice Questions starting on page 18. I'll play the recordings in class, but if you'd like more information about the test & more practice tests, look here
The next AP Theory assignments are :
Workbook Ch 12: A-B all, C-D (odd); Due Thurs
Workbook Ch 12: F-G (odd); Due Monday
EMT assignments, due 1/20 & 1/27
Here are your chapter 11 assignments:
Ch 11: A & B(all), C (odd), D (1-3), E(1-3); These are due on Monday, 1/13.
You also have the first few eMusicTheory assignments available to you. The first four of them are due on 1/20.
On Monday, we'll move on the Chapter 12.
Our Chapter 10book assignments are:
These will be due on Wednesday 12/11 at the start of class. We'll do an arranging exercise in Sibelius, then study for the Midterm starting that day.
After careful review, I've decided to almost entirely skip Chapter 8. After reviewing sample AP tests, I don't see anything in them regarding species counterpoint.
I've put up some EMT assignments which will help train you on modes, and help you practice a bit of 1st Species Counterpoint. Even though Counterpoint isn't explicitly a part of the test, the principles you apply to do that EMT won't go away & will help us understand the development of Tertian Harmony.
That'll be enough Chapter 8, I think.
We will dive right into Chapter 9 tomorrow, which will absolutely be an important part of the AP test. You will the following Chapter 9 workbook assignments, due after Thanksgiving:
A (1-3 only), B, C, E (1-6 only)
